Providing survivors with targeted, person-centered support

Problem

Survivors of OGBV often do not know where to turn to for support. It’s often small civil society organizations that carry the burden of supporting survivors with very limited resources.

Solution

We need to move resources to local organizations who are already addressing OGBV in their respective communities, and work together with funders, governments and civil society to co-produce what long-term funding and resources are needed to better support survivors of OGBV.

At the same time, we need to ensure that those who are working with and supporting survivors of OGBV have access to support themselves, to enable them to continue doing this work.

Approach

Requiring survivors of OGBV to go online to access resources and tools can lead to re-traumatization. We need to work with local civil society organizations and governments to ensure resources are also available offline in the local community, so that survivors are not forced to re-engage with the tech of oppression in order to find support.

Impact

A thriving civil society sector with adequate resources will be able to provide targeted and person-centered support to survivors to help mitigate the negative impacts of OGBV.
